Chex Muddy Buddies (or I grew up calling it "Puppy Chow") are sure to be a pleaser for kids and adults! I must admit that when first looking at them they do not look that appetizing, but looks are definitely deceiving in this case. I found some cute tins at the DollarTree, lined them with some cling wrap and filled them up with muddy buddies for Happy New Year gifts for my husband's co-workers. Give them a try and you will not be disappointed!
INGREDIENTS:
9 cups Chex cereal (any variety)
1 bag (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 gallon plastic food storage bag
wax paper
DIRECTIONS:
Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside. In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal in bowl, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 20 gallon plastic food storage bag; add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. 9 cups snack.
