I've said it before and I'll say it again…. I love my boys more than anything, but I always imagined having a little girl. Now I understand why I have two boys…I'd be completely broke if I had a girl! There are so many adorable girl things out there that I'd just want it all! I can't even go through Target without my eyes wondering over to sneak a peek at the cute summer dresses they have…and I don't have a girl to shop for! Luckily, my little letter business lets me get my girly fix by making adorable nursery décor like this! Day 9 of 92 Crafty Days of Summer: Custom Wall Letters

It has been fun knocking off some of these fun projects off my To-Do list, but it was time to get some "work" done. A couple more wall letters are in the mail to customers. The one below was ordered by a college student for her dorm door. She preferred the straight down design vs the individual squares.

My wall letters are always available in MY ETSY SHOP and are always a hit at baby showers or a new baby gift. J I wonder what project I'll do tomorrow! I started one tonight and it didn't work out as planned – bummer. I guess I'll figure it out tomorrow. Stay tuned to see what day 10 brings.

Day 6 of 92 Crafty Days of Summer : Dr Seuss Printable

I must admit that Day 6 of the 92 Crafty Days of Challenge did present my first true challenge of trying to accomplish a project. We were just having too much fun and barely spent any time in the house. But I didn't want to lose my personal challenge on Day 6, yet I wasn't going to sacrifice family fun to cross off a "To-Do" list item. I could still do this! I just had to be realistic and make sure none of the projects included Mod Podge or any tedious tasks. The solution? Create a quick printable to go near our reading area with a quote from the beloved Dr. Seuss. I love the below inspirational quote from Dr. Seuss and wanted to make sure my kiddos learned it as well. The printable reads…

"The more that you read, the more things that you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" – Dr. Seuss

Day 3 of 92 Crafty Days of Summer: “We Are Blessed” Chevron Print

I'm only human and sometimes when I'm in the middle of a self-pity party I need a little reminder of just how blessed we are. It's that simple – "We are Blessed". Even if I'm changing the 15^th poopy diaper of the day (ok – I like to exaggerate) it's still a blessing. Yes – poopy diapers are a blessing. Poopy diapers mean the following….

1. I have a baby
2. My baby is eating
3. Someone created diapers so we don't have sh*t everywhere.

You get the point. So enough of that "potty talk" that I get on my 5 year old about. If you want a pretty reminder for your home or office go to my ETSY SHOP HERE and order it. Gotta Have It: Hand Stamped Silver Spoon with Teacher Quote

I'm getting ready to order another one of these hand stamped silver spoons with the quote, "Teachers plant seeds of knowledge that will grow forever" from jlynncreations Etsy shop for our end of the year teacher gift. I bought one last year and the teacher loved it so it is time to start thinking about it again since the beginning of spring is here. She has great customer service and I've ordered other personalized items from her for Christmas. Just remember when purchasing things on Etsy that they are handmade so a lot of times there are 2 week turnaround times so plan accordingly J.

For our teacher gift I bought some flowers and a pot and placed the garden spoon in it. It was ready to give and enjoy immediately.

You could also create a gift basket around this with some seeds and gardening tools. Have you seen the adorable gardening tools they have out there lately? Plus I have seen vintage planting boxes at TJMAX that would be the perfect "basket". The ideas are limitless to go with this adorable garden spoon. Baby Shower Party Favors: Pink and Black Magnets

Here are some pictures from my latest magnet order for a baby shower party favor. This was my first time doing the magnet party favors in the pink and black color scheme and I LOVE IT! I have two boys so any chance to do things in girly colors just makes my day J.

The customer chose 8 words to use: Sweet, Love, Diva, Wish, Hope, Dream, Laugh, Fun

She also chose to have me package them for an additional fee. It's amazing what some cellophane bags and ribbon can do!

Gotta Make It: Chalkboard Heart with Sock Monkey for Valentine’s Day

I love chalkboard paint just as much as I'm in love with freezer paper right now. I saw this sock monkey and couldn't resist. A little red chalkboard paint to cover the heart, add a ribbon to hang it, and write a message….it really is as easy as 1,2,3 to make an adorable Valentine's Day gift. We made these for each of our boys so we can leave them messages to remind them just how much we love them (I'm sure the trillion kisses and hugs a day remind them, too). Can you find where the chalk is hidden? It's a perfect spot to make sure it is always near!

Custom Party Favor Magnets ...Now Available!!!!

As many of you know, I've got the Spring Cleaning fever and it hasn't stopped with just my "personal" life.  It has now poured into the business side of things, which includes getting some of the things I've wanted to do with the shop done instead of letting the idea or thought sit on a piece of paper. Adding the custom magnets that have been very popular for party favors to my Etsy Shop has just been waiting to get checked off.  So I will....today (that feels good!).  I have made a listing for the custom magnet party favors at MY ETSY SHOP.  It is for 30 magnets, however, I will do any amount.  You get to choose the color schemes, words, etc.  Typically 4-5 letters/numbers are the maximum that I can fit onto the magnet.  However, if you have something particular in mind, I will be more than happy to try it!

Holiday Letters - JOY, BELIEVE, HOPE

 

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and are now ready to get in the full blown Holiday Season!  To start off the wonderful season I wanted to introduce you to my Holiday Collection.  I currently have three letters available "JOY", "BELIEVE", and "HOPE".  I have one of each ready to ship at this time!  I can also do a custom order and mix and match designs and words.  Please check them out at MY ETSY SHOP and to purchase.

Gotta Have It: Halloween Paper Lanterns

 

I saw these Halloween Paper Lanterns at the DollarTree and had to have them!  I wish we were having a Halloween party this year because these would make adorable decorations hanging over the table.  But since there is no party, I put them in the fireplace instead.  When you turn out the lights and turn them on they look really good in there!  They take some AAA batteries and then the magic happens!  I wish the pictures did them better justice.  :)

Last Minute Baby Shower - Part 8: Party Favors

This project was one of those accidents that you are glad that happened. I wanted to give a party favor, but knew I couldn't spend a lot of money, so simply looking in my closet full of stuff that I've held on for the right time, did the trick! I've had leftover business card magnets for 3 years and I finally found a use.  I simply took various papers I was using to decorate the magnet, cut to size, attached to the magnet, and then added different words.  They ended up being a huge hit so I've decided that I'll start selling them on my Etsy shop shortly.  So stay tuned.  :)  They could be great for anything really...baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, birthdays, and one guest is even thinking about giving them to her students at the end of the year.  If you want more info about the magnets or would like to inquire about purchasing them please contact me at inspiremecrafts@yahoo.com

Custom Decorated Hanging Letters - Hope & Avery

Craft Room Envy

In the Databazaar article done on Inspire Me Crafts, Kara Soos mentioned that "Some crafts enthusiasts dedicate an entire room to their projects, filled to the brim with all sorts of supplies and tools. Imagine how much money they spend on all those provisions!".  Well.....I have a closet.  Nothing to compare to these amazing and beautiful rooms that I came across at hgtv.com.  I'll have to admit...I felt a little envy.  Can you imagine walking into any of these rooms and getting to sit down and start creating?!?  I'd lock myself in ANY of these rooms for days with a "Do Not Disturb" sign.  But come on, its time to have a reality check.  I'm all about full disclosure so to bring most of us back to reality I thought I would give you a peek into my little craft corner.  Let's take a look at my craft closet part of a closet. 

Well, here it is.  Not much...some wire racks, some hand me down white shelves and a plastic drawer for my paper.  But I do love my inspiration board!  I used the wine cork board that I featured a while ago to pin my inspirations and ideas to.  However, I am extremely happy because I just got those hand me down white shelves about a week ago and they have made a world of a difference in keeping my closet organized.  So, although, I have a little craft closet envy this morning, I am also thankful that I do have my portion of a closet for my crafts...even if I share it with the garbage, blender, crock pot, chargers, and serving dishes!

If you want to create...don't make excuses because you don't have the new and improved tools or the fancy room.  A nice kitchen table will do the trick :)

Tutu Canvas Frame

I'll always have a soft spot for things related to ballet since most of my life has been devoted to either dancing or teaching ballet.  For as long as I can remember, I was always in the studio dancing.  And now...I'm teaching those little girls with the same dreams.  Who knew that some pink tulle could be such a treat.  A tutu to a young girl is the most precious thing and every parent wants to capture that joy.  I could not think of a better way to do it than artist Makyla Iverson's, Tutu Canvas Frame.  I mean seriously....can you get any cuter and creative?!? Gotta Have It: Cath Kidston Products

I came across this website and I just had to share.   Cath Kidston uses vintage inspired prints to make beautiful everyday things from aprons and wallpaper to children's backpacks.  I made a collection of some of my favorite things from her website, cathkidston.co.uk, but there are so many more!  You really have to go check it out.  There are perfect gifts for weddings, baby gifts, mother's day, and just to show someone you care.  I'm not sure if her products are sold in US stores, but I requested a catalog and she does sell everything online.  Yay! Trust me, if you like the items in the collage then you will have a hayday browsing her site!  Enjoy....

Gotta Have It: Memory Quilt

For most, our Weddings are one of the happiest days of our lives.  Some hate the planning and some love it, but one thing is always the same...everyone wants to remember their special day and everyone wants their wedding to reflect who they are.  I was one of the bride's who enjoyed the process of planning her our wedding.  As a result, our bank account dwindled as our my bridal magazine collection grew, and hours were spent tearing out pages of ideas and color schemes.  There were just too many choices.  Although I liked a lot of the choices, some just did not reflect who we were....I wanted something more personal. 

The wheels in my head started to turn, and the ideas started coming.  I really liked the idea of people signing a frame, but EVERYONE was doing that...I wanted to be unique.  The wheels started to turn again as I started thinking about what I could make.  No ideas came.  The wheels started to turn again as I went through every family member and their talents.  Then it came to me!  My grandma makes beautiful quilts.  She quilted me the most beautiful one for my college graduation and it meant so much to me.  You just know how much time goes into making one and you know its made with love.  I gave her my color scheme and asked her if she would create a small quilt for me with space for the guests to write a message to the newlyweds.  Once again, she created the most beautiful quilt and it was more than I could have ever dreamed for.  It sits at the end of our bed on a trunk that has all our wedding mementos in them.  It was the perfect solution to accomplish all my goals...  I personalized an aspect of our wedding, created a great way to remember our special day and our guests, it was unique, and it was beautiful.

I was not a quilter so don't fret if you like the idea, but don't have the talent.  Please don't try to learn at the same time you are planning a wedding...you'll go crazy!  There are plenty of people out there who will create a quilt for you.  Check your fabric stores, online, etc.  On a side note, you do use a special fabric pen and then set it with heat.  Once again, check your fabric or quilting store or look online.  I ended up ordering them online in order to get the colors that I wanted.

And don't think this idea is only for weddings!  This would be great for baby showers...have it made to match the child's room and have the guests write a message or blessing for the baby.  They will get to keep this the rest of their lives and maybe even pass it down to their children.  Or how about high school and college graduations?  Bar Mitzvahs?  Christenings?  Birthdays?  The list goes on and on.  Just use this to spark your imagination and creativity!

Gotta Make It: Animal Valentine Tags

I didn't really make any  New Years Resolutions, but if I did, I would say that learning new things would be one of mine.  I've been trying to learn Adobe Photoshop whenever I have a 2 minute break from my son..which isn't that often, so it has definitely been a slow learning curve for me.  These witty (and silly) Valentine's tags are one of my first Photoshop projects that I am proud enough to show and share!  They are about 2in X 2in.  I simply cut them out and glued them to some cardstock.  They would be adorable solo with a little note on the back or you can make chocolate lollipops like I did and attach the Valentine tag with ribbon to it. 

The chocolate lollipops are so easy and inexpensive to make.  Go to your craft store and grab a lollipop mold ($1), some chocolate ($2), some lollipop sticks ($2 for tons), and some lollipop bags ($2 for 15).  All the stuff is grouped together at the store so it will be a quick stop if you have a squirmy kiddo with you like I usually do!  Then all you do is follow the directions which is melt the chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, put in mold, add the stick, put in fridge, chill, take out, put in bag, add ribbon....and Voila!  You are done.  Phew...

These would also be adorable as flowergirl gifts or if you are a parent you could put the tags in lunch boxes as little surprises for your school-aged children.  I hope you enjoy it!

Gotta Check it Out: Paper Source

These are a few of my most recent "Gotta Have's" and they are from one of my favorite websites, papersource.com. You will find a perfect gift, package, and card all at this website for Valentine's day or any other gift giving holiday.  Can it get any better than one stop shopping from your computer?

As a busy mom, I live off of coffee and one of my favorite new hobbies is finding super cute coffee/tea mugs.  I LOVE these two mugs that simply say "Wake Up" and "Create".  There are several others that say things like "Bliss", "Think", "I'm Awake", etc. 

Want to get some flowers for your loved one, but with a twist?  Paper Source has flower kits to make bouquets out of paper!  Genius.  I'm going to try creating this one day on my own and I'll let you know how this goes. 

They also have adorable gift packaging.  They have the red/white polka-dot box and the red/white striped pillow box, but I think my favorite is the mini-suitcase.  This would be adorable to fill up with some sweet little gifts and to give them to you child for Valentine's day.

Gotta Make It: Muffin Gift Box

I SOOOOO wish I could take credit for this super cute and clever idea...but I can't!  My mom purchased this at a Holiday Bazaar in Washington State and unfortunately the talented  and creative mind behind this didn't leave too much information for me to give her credit.  All I know is her name is Regan Denke and she goes by Ms. Crafty's Creations.  Like I said...I wish I had more info.  She made a tag that said "You're getting...muffin for Christmas!!" and in the inside of the box she included directions for Blueberry muffins along with the mix and some holiday cupcake liners.  The papers she chose are adorable and she used bells on the bottom of the box as little leg stands...how clever!  She gets an A+!!!!
